It’s May, and yet I’m still wondering if the April showers brought about this month’s flowers. Based on today, that doesn’t seem like much of an effective conclusion. May also celebrates all the mothers out there, so don’t forget to show y’all mamas out there some love. But above all else, “May the Fourth be with you” gets all the Star Wars fans all fidgety and with the release of the second teaser trailer last month, here’s my two cents on why you should watch this space opera.
Based off of the trailer, it is evident that the main cast from the George Lucas-directed originals that debuted in the last 70s will be acting the part of recurring characters. In other words, 30 years after the epic that was Return of the Jedi, Harrison Ford (the original Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (the original Princess Leia), and Mark Hamill (the original Luke Skywalker) will play second fiddle to a host of up-and-comers in John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Inside Llewyn’s Davis’ Oscar Isaac. It also means that cosplayers can now don their Darth Vader, Chewbacca, or R2D2 costumes after waiting almost a decade for a new Star Wars movie. Oh, and JJ Abrams, who made rival Star Trek’s reboots some of the best reboots in recent memory and the one responsible for giving us Lost, is directing this, so there’s that.
Stay tuned tomorrow for my reasons on why Mad Men, and not The Walking Dead, is the show that defines channel 51, or AMC.
Until next time folks,
